Paint pants.

While we are in the middle of our big move, I decided I needed a day for house work and maybe some furniture painting.  But who was I kidding?!

Once I start painting, there is no turning back, so the house work was sadly sacrificed to fulfill my creative need.

Why the title Paint pants?  Well, when we started painting our new store, our girls got me this white cover all.               First thing I did, was cutting the legs shorter.  (of course used plain scissors so I looked more like a pirate than a professional painter.  Any way, the white coverall is covered in paint as it is supposed to be, BUT my pants had already paint on them as well.

So, I dedicated my pants to the world of painting !!

What kind of a painter am I? (don't ask my husband because he will definitely exaggerate!)
But I have to admit, I am a messy enthusiastic committed painter.
Wasting time with taping off, putting plastic under the project and all those time consuming preparations are nothing for me.

And here we found CHALK PAINT AND MILK PAINT.
Two wonderful paints that allow all these enthusiastic creative minds to start a project without sanding. An enormous world of opportunities has opened up.

As many among us like finding treasures at garage sales, we certainly admit to be part of that group.

A simple cupboard will turn into a beautiful colored asset to our store.  The nice part here is that we could start painting right away.   The after picture will follow in our next blog.

But we take on any challenge.  These boots we found at another garage sale.  The lady who sold them to us said they belonged to her husband who passed away.
Well, I hope that when he looks down from heaven, he will think "Dang, those are some good looking boots"
We will post the "after" picture in our next blog

Meanwhile somewhere in Barrhead,

A maze of metal pipes has been put up.
Pretty soon it will all be clear for every one.
The foundation of De Herdt Gardens has been put down.

And as we are building, painting, moving, cleaning up, we say a quick thank you to Sylvia, who keeps running the "old" location, so we can build on the "new" one.

WE'LL BE BACK !!

It's a beautiful day !

The first tables are being moved to the new location
We ARE ready for concrete.
Woohoo. (what's with the woohoo? picked that up and can't seem to stop using it)
42 holes were made and being filled today
(yep, now we can't change our minds anymore I guess?!)

IMPORTANT NOTE to all.  Decide if you want to keep the tiles BEFORE you start painting.  This can and will safe you a lot of scraping work.

Our first painted area.
"De Herdt gardens' veggie market" corner

A customer said to Sylvia :
What are they doing at that auto place?  It looks so girly !!!!!!

Where is he off too, and what is he up too??!!

THIS IS HOW IT LOOKS THIS WEEKEND DURING THE 55 PLUS GAMES.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Barrhead, there is a lazy cat getting a sun tan on the seat of our water truck.  What a life hey !

As you can see, things are starting to get shape.  Half way the summer, and we are going to start building soon.
WE WILL KEEP YOU POSTED !

Blue sky, nothing but blue sky (remember the song?)

As we have been facing rainy days after days after days...we are simply enjoying the bright blue sky when we look through the beams of the "old" greenhouse.

We could also have chosen the song
"I can see clearly now, the rain is gone"

Mean while, somewhere else in Barrhead.

Our 2 enthusiastic painters have almost finished the first coat

Not too many can say they know how to
drive a scissor lift !!!
Message to our daughters: you are most welcome !

ADDING SOME FASHION TO A WORK OUTFIT !
Take note of the blue flowery shower cap, combined with the sunny yellow colored ear muffs and accentuated by a silver clip on the white mask
And unfortunately I only got to wear my special outfit one day.
But we will see each other again "my special outfit and I !!)

Adding some finishing touches to the fence and then all will be ready to put a gate on.  Woohoo !!

So that is how the situation is today at De Herdt Gardens in Barrhead.

Until next time again !

Let's get crack'n

No point waiting till the rain stops. !
(we are eager to begin work)

If you see this pile of metal that "used" to be the greenhouse, you can be sure we are in need of a coffee.
So off to the store to get a
brand new coffee maker for a brand new location.

The whole inside of the front building has been cleaned out.  Crazy to think that this part will become our future store.  (better have an extra cup of that black delicious stuff that provides a lot of caffeine.)

But an important thing has already been decided.  We know where our till is going to be !!

Time to go shopping for cool things that we can decorate our new place with.  Super duper excited.

This dirty wall is already history, because a layer of white paint has given it a pretty clean look.

THANK YOU
TO EVERYONE WHO HAS AND IS SHOWING INTEREST AND SUPPORT IN OUR NEW ADVENTURE.

You are welcome to stop by and see what we are up to.  When the coffee is ready, we have a cup for you.

Till next time !

Remember when ?

To continue our "historical-look back",
I found some pictures (not in the shoe box though) from several years ago.

 We look so young !

This was so much fun.  We even won a prize for best dressed up alpaca in the Barrhead's parade.

This was one of our first water trucks.  A few different ones followed and every time it seems we were a public attraction by sitting on top of the water tank to water the hang baskets.

We had the pleasure of giving many grade 4 classes a tour at our greenhouse.

The beginning of The Christmas store.

Some beautiful art work is done on our walls by Dylen

John, Peggy and Harvey are working hard to get the new tables ready.

Introduction of "The shrubs".

Well, we hope you are enjoying these"historical look-backs".
There are more to come, but that will be for another time.
We'll be back !

And So It Has Begun !

What is unavoidable, has started.

First you take out a door, then a piece of wall, then the top cover of the greenhouse and finally the metal structure comes down.

A SNEAK PEEK OF OUR NEW LOCATION

Well, in case you were wondering what we had planned for the summer (and most likely the next couple of years), we will be working here.

But we will keep you posted !
